One of the leading bridge design firms in Minnesota, is looking for an engineer with 1 to 2 years of experience in design of vehicular and pedestrian bridges. Engineering Firm designs bridges throughout Minnesota and surrounding states.
We are looking for a self-starting individual with preferred requirements listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- MathCAD, RISA3D, AASHTOWare BrR, and AutoCAD proficiency
- Microsoft Excel & Word proficiency
- Experience in structural design utilizing reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber
- Prefabricated steel truss experience also a plus
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong detail orientation

This full-time position includes the following duties:
- Utilize AutoCAD to produce accurate architectural submittal drawings for architect/customer review
- Analyze project documents and develop detailed drawings required to accurately covey scope of work and architectural intent
- Assist project managers with updating drawings, creating sketches, creating RFI’s, developing details for unique job conditions, and revise project documents per field dimensions
- Review work from other drafters to ensure its accuracy
- Complete projects on time and accurately
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Completed training and proficient in AutoCAD 2015 or newer
- Previous submittal drafting experience is required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and deadlines
- Pass pre-hiring background check and post-offer, pre-hire drug test

Design Drafters must possess a strong understanding of Materials, Building Codes and some Engineering Principles.
Project Planning
● Thoroughly review project specifications and scope, placing emphasis on design requirements.
● As part of a Project Team, prepare pricing estimates, submittal drawings for customer approval based upon project specifications, scope and engineering requirements.
● Coordinate with project team to determine potential value engineering opportunities for the project.
Project Execution
● Work in conjunction with the project strategy and schedule set forth by the Project Manager.
● Prepare measuring templates, acquire field dimensions and construct as-built 3D models and layouts to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
● With the use of Rhino, Revit and AutoCAD software, prepare accurate assembly and part drawings to assure proper fabrication and installation of product.
● Prepare bills of materials and project routers to the Process Engineer and Production Manager.
● Assist the Project Manager with quality control measures throughout fabrication and installation phases of the project.
● Assist the Project Manager in the completion of all specified closeout documents required by the customer including final ‘as-built’ drawings.
● Perform project review with thorough synopsis of project and opportunities for improved performance on future projects.
General Duties
● Provide material take-offs and estimates and assist in project forecasting.
● Assist the Project Manager with change orders, project schedules and project evaluation.
● Integrate educational and professional experience to optimize project efficiencies.
Required Skills
● Associates degree in Mechanical or Architectural Design / CAD Technology or similar is required
● Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and Rhino or comparable program is required.
● Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
● Ability to maintain a high degree of integrity, loyalty and honesty; not divulge to outside parties’ information of a confidential nature pertaining to the company’s operations or bids

Senior Designer / Project Manager

Job Summary:
This Senior Designer / Project Manager role is responsible for overseeing the design through fabrication process custom wall framing systems and building façades. This includes; planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and budget parameters. The work will be performed in an office setting and includes leading and working within a team comprised of account managers, estimators, design technologists, project coordinators, production personnel, customers, outside suppliers, and others, to facilitate the proper execution of awarded projects.
The Senior Designer / Project Manager is responsible for executing project tasks including 3D modeling, 2D drawing generation, framing system coordination, converting design data to fabrication data, and providing installation instructions under the direction of the Design Manager.

Plan the project
- Define the scope of the project in collaboration with estimating, senior management, and designers as appropriate
- Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion and create a detailed work plan which sets priorities and identifies as well as sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
- Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities and review with appropriate staff and other project constituents; revisit the schedule as required
Implement the project
- Effectively manage the design process to ensure that the project deliverables are on
time, within budget and at the required level of quality

Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Professional Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or Fabrication related fields, or 5+ years of relevant work experience
Required Abilities and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- 5+ years of GC experience in Project Management or Construction Management.
- A deep understanding of architectural drawings.
- Depth of knowledge in construction materials and sequencing on job-sites.
- Deep understanding of construction and manufacturing contracts.
- Ability to confidently trouble shoot scheduling, constructability, and money issues with clients.
- Familiarity in 2D and 3D modeling software, or ability and interest in learning (no experience required…training and mentorship provided with established 3D modeling training systems in place)
- Familiarity with MS Office including Excel, and PDF editing software (Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat Pro)
Bonus Attributes:
- Proficiency with Rhino and automation tools
- Experience with fabrication, construction, or structural engineering concepts
Salary range 80k-100k+ depending on experience and interview.

Your role:
The Sr. Designer works with Engineers and Project Managers to prepare complete construction documents and assist during the construction support phase and acts as a primary technical contact on projects.
- Prepare proposals and required drafting fees.
- Understand and convey scope, schedules and end-product needs to the internal project team.
- Layout plans, sections and details to specified company/client CAD standards working directly with engineers and project managers.
- Review project documents for coordination with all disciplines to avoid and resolve conflicts
- Participate in internal coordination meetings and client coordination meetings.
- Design and layout preliminary concepts and accurately communicate the content.
- Prepare and edit specifications, coordinate with drawings, and review shop drawings.
- Communicate with client and contractors regarding RFI’s and field questions.
- Support project team in nurturing the client relationship.
- Provide direction and distribute work to technicians, designers and engineers.
- Mentor and train technical staff to produce high-quality design services and deliverables.
- Perform a quality control review.
- Perform site visits as needed.
Your resume must include:
- Certificate in construction-related design/drafting or higher and at least 8 years of directly related experience.
- OR at least 9 years of directly related experience in lieu of certificate.
Starting Hourly Range: $33.50 – $52.50. A variety of factors are considered when determining an offer including, but not limited to, market data, geographic location, experience, and specialized skills.
