Drafter- Architectural and Acoustical Products company in search of an AutoCAD drafter.
The Drafting Specialist reports to the Shared Services Manager and is responsible for providing
technical resource support to all company drafting.
Drafting Specialist Job Purpose: The Drafting Specialist works closely with the Project Management,
Estimating, Quality Assurance, Research and Development, and Sales departments. The Drafting
Specialist is responsible for overseeing and coordinating drafting activities from beginning to end. The
Drafting Specialist understands full scope of company products from design to installation. This role maintains
and enforces drafting standards, and is a junior to senior position geared toward leadership.
1. Technical Support
Defines and maintains drafting and drawing practice standards
Develops CAD training content as required for support staff, as well as drafting
Develops and updates drafting libraries, including standard details
Researches new technologies to provide accurate and current CAD advice
Redlines drafting and review all developed drawings prior to submission to project manager
Sets up and develops new project drawings according to company drafting standards
Communicates with project management to coordinate efforts and optimize processes
Understands and know the project deliverable schedule
Supports set up of workstations for all drafting activities
Supports personnel in day to day CAD activities and concerns as required
Creates project panel schedules and coordinate with drawings prior to submittal
Develops and maintains templates for all companies, as demanded
Assesses drafting needs and verify completion of tasks and drawing requests
Designs and draft CAD solutions to project specific conditions and custom details
Attends phone conferences with project managers to assess project requirements
Identifies opportunities for BIM development within product lines
Collaborates with Marketing to expand the digital library of details and downloadables
Assists in upkeep of repository websites (Autodesk Seek, Arcat) to ensure content is current
and up to date, and identify needs trending in competition
Supports drafting load for projects as required

Hosts daily Drafting Meeting with Project Management and Design and Engineering

Engineers, and Project Managers
Collaborates with Research and Development on new product design
Develops routines and macros for AutoCAD to increase productivity
Reviews and approves production drawings for Associate Drafting Engineers, Drafting
Engineers, Sr. Drafting Engineers, and Project Managers
Manages licensing information for all CAD/BIM software
Assesses, coordinates and delegates drafting load based on current departmental and
Trains all applicable personnel in the use and application of ASI drafting standards
Associates Degree in Architectural Drafting, Design and Drafting, or related field
Minimum of four years of AutoCAD experience (2010 and up)
Minimum of two years of professional experience in construction related field

Proficient in reading architectural/design and mechanical plans

POSITION REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager POSITIONS MANAGED: None
POSITION PURPOSE: To create, design, research, model, and improve mechanical automation, equipment, and production lines. To work with other team members, including fellow mechanical and electrical designers and the engineering manager, in developing product designs.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years relevant experience designing industry-specific products, preferably conveyors.
Utilizing both experience and skills, the applicant:• Must have and display a high aptitude for mechanical design.• Create designs in line with company procedure, design standards, and client specifications.• Will develop preliminary sketches, layouts, model, and detail part and assembly drawings. • Research and help gather necessary information to help develop or improve a design. • Will prepare calculations like tolerance, dimensions, press fits, etc. on proposed machines.• Will modify and use existing parts and assembly models to create a new design.• Will create Print Packages to be released to Purchasing.• Will review Print Packages from mechanical draft designers for release to Purchasing.• Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the machine is built properly and according to design specifications.• Will maintain existing models and drawings including revisions. • Will create and revise drawings for operation manuals.• May reverse engineer parts and assemblies as needed.• Will help design prototypes or modifications to existing product or equipment. • Must understand and be able to reference design documents including: ASME Y14 Dimensioning The Machinist’s Handbook o Welding Symbols and GD&T Dimensions• May help on the shop floor from time to time.• Will keep supervisor informed of all pertinent information.• Will develop and maintain reports pertinent to the position.• Will communicate ideas to ensure successful designs for current and future growth.• Will along with supervisors and managers, establish accountability goals used for performance evaluation.• Will work to achieve a minimum level of a CSWP level of certification in SolidWorks.• Must maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.________________________________________
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Minimum 2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Any SolidWorks Certification achievement – CSWP preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Computer experience and knowledge using Solidworks, EPDM, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office programs – Outlook, Excel, and Word. HVAC Service Technician
• Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units. Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems.
• Travel to job sites in service area, and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.
• Be available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers.
• Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues.
• Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
• Document all installed equipment upon arrival: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
• Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct it.
• Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.
• Identify and report to owner potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services).
• Two years experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
• Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
• Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
