POSITION OVERVIEW – Director of Electrical Engineering

The Director of Electrical Engineering plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. Reporting to the Partners, this individual will provide technical and engineering excellence and guidance to department engineers and designers, to ensure successful delivery of work to the firm’s clients. The Director of Electrical Engineering is responsible for a high level of client satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed – both externally and internally.

The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly and frequently, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment as well as signing electrical plans, specifications and documents.

 

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

•        Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of Electrical Power, Lighting and Systems Design and Principles as well as Data, Low Voltage, Security, Paging and clock systems.

•        Basic understanding of Architectural, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.

•        Has a working knowledge of cost/value for electrical building components for assigned scope of work and is accountable for ensuring we stay within scope.

•        Will serve as project manager for complete projects, overseeing a project team.

•        Guides and supports the Electrical engineers and designers and sets standards for the department.

•        Performs quality control reviews of prepared plans, specifications, and documents.

•        Support the business development process through input to proposals, meeting and presenting to prospective clients, etc.

•        Provides work direction to other team members, including subcontractors, as assigned.

•        Approves final equipment selections and drawing submittals.

•        Provides technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines.

•        Construction administration- leading and attending meetings, reviewing change orders, responding to RFI’s.

•        Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT.

•        Strong knowledge of NEC and other relevant codes.

•        Strong knowledge of Technology Systems design or have RCDD certification.

EDUCATION

Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Professional Engineering Registration is also required. 10+ years of experience preferred.

The level of seasoning we are looking for likely comes with a minimum of 10 years of experience following graduation. The successful candidate will be naturally collaborative and possess the ability to assimilate a range of ideas, programs, or alternatives into a set of recommendations. This person will be self-directed but thrive in an environment where consultation leads to superior outcomes. POSITION OVERVIEW – CIVIL ENGINEER (PE)

The Civil Engineer plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our clients. The Engineer is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed – both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly and frequently, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment.

 

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The design of civil engineering systems as follows: grading, storm water runoff, pavement surfaces, retention and detention ponding, construction details, miscellaneous details, their coordination with other disciplines and the communication of the design to the contractors who will construct the project.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

·         Serves as lead civil engineer for projects to ensure that proper system design is incorporated into projects through quality control.

·         Certify civil engineering documents for projects and assume overall responsibility for the quality of the contract documents.

·         Design and layout civil engineering systems to include grading, storm water runoff, etc. and equipment.

·         Selects civil engineering equipment and assures that the client approves all systems and equipment.

·         Perform calculations for sizing and dimensioning civil engineering systems for the project.

·         Review and edit the master civil engineering technical specifications to ensure the requirements of the project are described.

·         Check and approve civil engineering shop drawings for conformance to the requirements of the project documents.

·         Incorporate department and industry standards and applicable codes into design and layout of civil engineering systems.

·         Provide site observations and issue observation reports of civil engineering systems during the construction phase and attend construction meetings.

·         Perform substantial completion, follow-up, and final punchlist reports of civil engineering systems.

·         Represent the civil engineering discipline at project meetings.

·         Liaison with client and client representative to incorporate client design standards and to communicate civil engineering system design.

·         Coordinate civil engineering designs with other disciplines and consultants to ensure a quality project.

·         Performs budgeting and cost estimating of civil engineering systems for projects.

·         Performs such other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Bachelors’ degree and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is required. Professional Engineering Registration in Minnesota and a willingness to pursue this designation in other states is also required. 5-15+ years of experience preferred.

This person will be self-directed but thrive in an environment where consultation leads to superior outcomes. Additional qualifications the successful candidate will possess include: Knowledge in both Revit and AutoCAD.
