Job Summary

In this role you would initially start as an individual Senior Engineer who would grow in the near term to a Lead/Supervisor ME. The company would like the candidate to first learn the product line and company.

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will design structures and bussing for switchgear, panel boards and electrical power distribution equipment for safe, effective, and efficient operation of company products and processes while meeting and exceeding company quality and production standards and customer documentation and delivery requirements.

*Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ideal candidate will have 15+ years designing, or capable of designing, mechanical structures and bussing for LV and MV switchgear assemblies, developing and implementing engineering standards, complying with applicable codes and customer specifications within a project management structure to ensure workflow remains within schedule and budget requirements.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements and receive direction from mentors to create designs.
  • Experience using 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, PDM and SolidWorks mechanical tools and libraries.
  • Improve the design process using standardized practices, tools and systems, improve the quality and productivity of the design and support process while reducing schedule and budget.
  • Evaluate and select mechanical components and fabrication parts for bussing systems, switchgear, panelboards and control panels.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience designing multi-phase and DC switchgear, switchboards, panelboards in accordance with customer’s functional requirements for LV and MV equipment.
  • Support product assembly, manufacturing, testing and field service.
  • Provide project coordination and management for customer orders.
  • Support the creation of product and project quotes.
  • Establish and maintain internal, customer, and supplier relationships.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Experience using PDM, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or other 3D design tools.
  • Experience using mechanical test equipment related to LV and MV product fabrication, structures and manufacturing processes.

Our project work occurs all over the world, including high-wind and seismically active locations.

Your role:

  • Perform high quality engineering services.
  • Appropriately and efficiently use software and hand calculations to develop design solutions that meet code requirements and are constructible.
  • Perform site visits/observations/structural evaluations. (Potential 10% travel to construction job sites.)

A Mid-level Engineer will also:

  • Lead the preparation of proposals, design documents and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate design team effort internally and externally.
  • Develop and coordinate project details

Your resume must include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with structural engineering emphasis
  • Entry-level: E.I.T (preferred)
  • Mid-Level: 5+ years of experience without PE or 4 years of experience with PE (preferred)

Our Electrical team is focused on the design of electrical power systems for industrial facilities; ethanol, specialty chemical, grain handling and feed mills. We are also designing green energy solutions (solar) for municipal and industrial clients as they grow their renewable energy portfolios.  Analytical services for new and existing power systems include load flow studies, short circuit analysis, arc flash risk assessment, and power factor correction.

Your role:

  • Perform high quality engineering services.
  • Assist with the preparation of high-quality construction documentation including calculations, drawings and specifications.
  • Perform construction phase site observations on job sites and produce site observation reports as required. (Potential 5% travel to construction job sites.)
  • Efficiently use appropriate software to complete engineering design.
  • Manage time based on project budget and schedule.
  • Communicate with clients/contractors regarding RFI’s and field questions, as requested.

Your resume must include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0-5 years engineering experience.
  • E.I.T. (preferred.)
  • Commercial building design experience (preferred.)

Senior Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Development of Owner’s Project Requirements
  • Creates the commissioning plan/specifications
  • Assists in design reviews at appropriate stages
  • Writes pre-functional checklists and functional. performance tests
  • Reviews equipment submittals and shop drawings for overall compliance with the design intent and functional testing plans
  • Witnesses and documents equipment startups, test/balance activities, functional tests during construction
  • Aids in the diagnosis and resolution of system and equipment problems
  • Generates corrective issue reports and maintains an issues log
  • Develops the final commissioning reports and provides systems manuals
  • Assists LEED professionals in preparation of necessary documents for LEED certification
  • Additional assignments may include retro-commissioning tasks and reviewing operational trend logs and providing recommendations
  • Provides QA/QC reviews of Brand engineering designs for commission ability
  • Plans and directs the work of commissioning specialists
  • Assists to mentor and encourage the development of junior professionals.
  • Attend client and internal meeting and construction meetings
  • Travel required for project responsibilities
  • Conducts commissioning kickoff meetings
  • Conducts Owner’s Project Requirement workshops.
  • Participates in design controls meeting between design team and Owner
  • Leads 10-month lessons learned walk through meetings with clients

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of total building design experience and/or 10+ years CX
  • ABET-accredited degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering, degree in architecture or construction management
  • Registered Professional Engineer license preferred
  • Certified Building Commissioning Professional credential required

General Characteristics

Fire Protection Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Establishes, designs, and specifies project-appropriate engineering requirements
  • Leads the execution of site investigations and observations
  • Prepares narratives, reports, calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints
  • Performs cross-discipline discussions and coordination
  • Assists with reviews of engineering documents for quality and compliance with code and program requirements
  • Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI’s, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept
  • Plans and directs the work of EITs and designers
  • Mentors and encourages the development of junior professionals and designers
  • Independently attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development
  • Assists with marketing and business development activities including building relationship with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews
  • Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required

 Qualifications

  • 4 + years licensed experience
  • ABET- accredited degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer required

General Characteristics

  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards
  • Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using industry standard calculation software required
