SUMMARY: Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of production workers. Manages the processes for the shift to ensure that production goals are met. Provides training and direction to employees. Ensures efficient and productive use of all equipment and maintains a safe working environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 ·         Lead and train employees, answer questions, provide coaching and discipline as needed

·         Provide clear expectations to all employees

·         Perform random inspections to ensure quality of parts produced

·         Ensure employees are on-time and at equipment when expected

·         Monitor and evaluate rates for obtainability and correct processes or rates as necessary

·         Pursue optimization of earned hours

·         Monitor work area and enforce safety regulations

·         Develop new ideas and processes to save time, material, and money

·         Work with management to resolve employee problems, complaints, or grievances

·         Accountable for shift performance in quality, earned hours, and meeting production schedule

·         E-mail daily results to President, Production Manager, and Production Planner

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

 ·         Work with engineering to ensure good fixtures and develop continuous process improvement

·         Work with maintenance to ensure equipment is consistently maintained and running efficiently

·         Work with human resources to maintain adequate staffing

·         Ensure compliance with 5S program

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Five (5) years of manufacturing experience working with a variety of tubing and bending equipment

·         Leadership skills and experience

·         Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions

·         Basic experience with Microsoft Computer Programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel

·         Excellent communication abilities

·         Organizational skills

Sales:

Outsourcing:

Coordinate with external companies for necessary parts and maintain production schedules.

Ensure outside suppliers adhere to timelines and quality standards.

Communication:

Maintain clear and consistent communication with customers and suppliers via phone and email.

Respond to emails within one hour during office hours, providing updates if additional time is needed.

Maintain a positive attitude and morale during all tasks and interactions.

Notify necessary individuals within the customer’s organization of shipment status and provide documentation promptly.

Purchasing:

Procure materials and hardware required for job completion.

Ensure materials are available before needed, avoiding “just in time” ordering.

Closing Jobs:

Properly close out packets/jobs/routers and record margins.

Notify management if margins fall below 30%.

Document all notes on job packets for future reference.

Perform other assigned duties.

Education and Certifications:

Two-year associate degree and two years of experience in project management or related field.

Consults with the salesperson to verify specifications on job sheets. The drawing is submitted to the customer for approval or modification. Upon approval, the job is scheduled for production and a parts list is prepared and submitted to Purchasing Agent.• Conducts quality audits of projects in production by communicating daily with production staff on the manufacturing process; answers questions of production staff; resolves production challenges with customers as necessary; to ensure that the finished product meets specifications and customer’s expectations.• Prepares documentation for equipment including: parts list, prints, maintenance manual for each component to ensure that the customer has complete and accurate maintenance plans for the equipment.• Responds to customer equipment challenges by reviewing the customer file, determining the nature of the challenge and developing a solution to ensure that the equipment operates properly and the customer is satisfied. Travel to the customer jobsite may be required.• Research & develops new equipment designs & improvements to existing products, as directed, to expand and improve the product line. Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; with one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience at a minimum. Demonstrated ability to use computer assisted engineering (CAE) systems and computer assisted design systems in the design of various equipment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Communicates well with groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
