Job Title: Shipping Supervisor

Reports To: Plant Manager
Position Summary
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all outbound logistics operations, ensuring orders are accurately picked, packed, and shipped on time, accurately and in full. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily shipping operations, including scheduling, packaging, labeling, and loading.
- Lead a team of shipping personnel, providing clear direction, training, discipline and performance feedback.
- Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders in alignment with quality and delivery standards.
- Partner closely with Production, Customer Service, and Transportation teams to meet delivery timelines and resolve order discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory of shipping supplies and coordinate restocking as needed.
- Maintain shipping records, bills of lading, and ensure compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Champion a safe and clean work environment, enforcing proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, etc.) to drive operational efficiency.
- Provide input for process improvement and system enhancements (ERP, WMS, etc.).
- Assist with employee scheduling, timekeeping, and staffing plans during peak periods.
- Enforce plant rules for all employees.
- Ensure all employees are meeting current safety and training requirements (OSHA, state, county, etc…)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse supervisory role, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience using ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, etc.) for order and inventory management.
- Strong knowledge of shipping processes, including LTL, FTL, and international freight.
- Proven leadership and team development skills.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
