Operations Manager-
High Performance Architectural Metal Finishing company in search of an operations manager.
SUMMARY: Oversees and coordinates all activities of production related to the finishing process ensuring all company goals are met and meeting and/or exceeding customer expectations
Ensures all company policies and guidelines are followed.
Responsible for overall facilities and property maintenance.
Ensures all safety and other compliance requirements and protocols are met and enforced.
Lead, Manage, Accountability: Oversees, manages, directs and coordinates activities as it relates to the production staff, production process and the timely completion of finishing or accessorial processes in accordance with corporate goals and strategic initiatives.  Includes staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and manage expectations and accountability.
Acts as liaison between sales and production related units
Scheduling / Production Process: Analyzes jobs to determine needs, staffing and complexities involved.   Establishes the shop production schedule with consideration to staffing requirements, demand, resources, people’s ability, outside operations, training, labor costs, material availability, quality level acceptance, efficiency and on-time delivery performance.
Present proposals and ROI on new production equipment and processes.
Equipment / Maintenance: Manage timely / proper maintenance of equipment to ensure safe usage and quality.
Compliance: Oversees and directs activities related to environmental compliance in accordance with applicable permits.  This includes daily, monthly and quarterly inspections.  Ensuring employees are following all guidelines.  Scheduling 3rd party testing and equipment certifications.  Assist in the collection, documentation and submission of required documents and data to the MPCA / EPA.  Participate and provide training to employees to fulfill requirements of applicable permits.
Facilities Maintenance: Coordinate and manage the maintenance of the facility and grounds. Identify and implement energy and cost saving systems. Purchasing and Inventory Control
Oversee and direct all purchasing and inventory control activities including warehouse layout and management.  Facilitate vendor relationships, agreements and insurance requirements.


Cost Control: Analyzes and reviews jobs to ensure material, labor and overhead costs are in alignment with project and company budgets.  Identify and implement cost saving measures as required.  Develop, direct and maintain operating budgets and cost controls to fund operations, maximize investments and increase efficiency of manufacturing.  Provide feedback to management on deviations from budgets and continuously work to reduce operating costs.
Employee Relations: Must possess strong interpersonal skills, oral communication, written communication, inspire team participation and cooperation.  Be a visionary leader inspiring respect and trust and addressing the employees’ issues with a sense of urgency.  Conducts Employee Reviews to provide employees with regard to their personal performance activities.  Interviews, hires, terminates and disciplines all shop employees as necessary following company and union protocol.
Safety: Continual participation in safety awareness and training to reduce/eliminate potential cause for injury, safety issues, AWAIR Training and OSHA compliance. Oversee guidelines and processes are correctly and timely followed to comply with various permits and/or legal regulations. Conduct thorough investigation in the event of a production employee accident and follow prescribed procedures for testing and reporting.
Quality: Ensures that the quality procedures are followed and expectations are met.  Consistently clarify quality expectations and immediately address non-compliant finished product.  Track and measure quality issues.  Conduct improvement activities, develop standard procedures and train employees as needed to correct on going quality issues.
Continuous Improvements:     Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities as it relates to safety, quality, delivery and cost.  Review and define issues, root cause and countermeasures.  Assign activities related to countermeasures and follow up to ensure countermeasures were successful.
Training: Develop and establish training requirements for all production functional areas.  Ensure that employees are knowledgeable of operations and can effectively be utilized in many different production areas.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Familiarity with EOS and Lean Principles is preferred.
