Product Safety Compliance Engineer

Qualifications

·        This candidate must also provide guidance on relevant NEC, UL, IEC safety testing standards requirements preceding the launch of new products
·        Bachelor’s Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls/Automation, or related)
·        Excellent communications skills, in both verbal and written formats

Responsibilities

·        The responsibilities of this position will involve product safety compliance activities
·        These activities include, “NPD” New Product Development, “ETO” Engineering to Order as it pertains to safety compliance
·        In addition, this position will also be responsible for sustaining product safety conformance for legacy products, investigation, and validation testing
·        Furthermore, this position shall be able to guide design engineering department on relevant aspect of product design and its minimum requires to satisfy the requirements that are published by the NFPA, UL, IEC
·        In this role you may be asked to participate (directly or indirectly) on standards and regulatory committees
·        Maintain current NRTL (UL, ETL, CSA, etc.) product certification approvals
·        Acquire NRTL certification on new products
·        Compile CE compliance documentation for safety and departmental/company directives
·        Contract and coordinate with outside laboratories for safety and compliance testing
·        Develop and review and approve relevant test plans
·        Develop and review and approve final test reports
·        Signoff on product release readiness thorough the NPD process
·        Keeping up-to-date technically on standards and regulatory requirements
·        Provide guidance to the design engineering or other teams regarding regulatory / compliance requirements
·        When asked, participate directly and/or indirectly on standards and regulatory committees so make certain that division/department objectives are represented
·        Drive Continuous Improvement

Requirements

·        Bachelor’s Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls/Automation, or related)
·        2+ years of experience working in product safety or quality desired.
·        Knowledge of IEC/UL product safety standards
·        Excellent communications skills, in both verbal and written formats.
·        Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills.
