JO – 6436 Planner/Project Manager
Summary:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee metal fabrication jobs internally and through subcontract operations. Facilitate communication among internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure project management efficiency. Utilize ERP software for job entry and order management.
Responsibilities:
Sales:
Collaborate with customers on new and ongoing projects.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers.
Job Routing:
Proficiently use ERP/Business Software and share knowledge within the company.
Set up manufacturing methods following company standard procedures.
Ensure accuracy of drawings, electronic files, job routing, work instructions, etc.
Manage jobs and coordinate with production and scheduling for timely delivery.
Expedite projects and maintain communication with stakeholders.
Outsourcing:
Coordinate with external companies for necessary parts and maintain production schedules.
Collaborate with the purchasing manager to order materials and subcontract operations.
Ensure outside suppliers adhere to timelines and quality standards.
Communication:
Maintain clear and consistent communication with customers and suppliers via phone and email.
Respond to emails within one hour during office hours, providing updates if additional time is needed.
Maintain a positive attitude and morale during all tasks and interactions.
Notify necessary individuals within the customer’s organization of shipment status and provide documentation promptly.
Purchasing:
Procure materials and hardware required for job completion.
Ensure materials are available before needed, avoiding “just in time” ordering.
Closing Jobs:
Properly close out packets/jobs/routers and record margins.
Notify management if margins fall below 30%.
Document all notes on job packets for future reference.
Perform other assigned duties.
Education and Certifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two-year associate degree and two years of experience in project management or related field.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
Understand blueprints and material requirements.
Willingness to tackle challenges and take on additional tasks independently.
Ability to multitask effectively.
Knowledge of metal shop workflow.
