Job description
This position requires the following:
- Degree / Certificate in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) or equivalent experience in mechanical design and drafting (sheet metal a plus).
- Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Experience using capital equipment layout, process equipment design, mechanical assembly design, or mechanical weldments is a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Innovative nature, outgoing personality, high energy, etc.
Must reside in, or be willing and able to relocate, to St. Paul/ Minneapolis area.

Mechanical Designer Opportunity
The Mechanical team designs material handling, process ventilation and building safety systems, process and utility piping and heat exchangers, and building HVAC and plumbing systems for agribusiness, industrial and commercial facilities.
Your role:
- Layout plans, sections and details to specified CAD standards working directly with engineers or project managers.
- Provide direction and distribute work to Technicians.
- Review Technician’s work.
- Coordinate with design team members and product vendors.
- Communicate with clients and/or contractors regarding RFI’s and field questions.
- Maintain awareness of fees and drafting time, understand project scope and identify potential additional service items.
- Review shop drawings.
- Attend internal coordination meetings and client coordination meetings as needed.
- Occasional travel for site observations and field measurements.
Your resume must include:
- Certificate in construction related design/drafting or higher and at least three years of directly related experience OR at least four years of directly related experience.
- REVIT 3D Experience.
- Process and Utility Piping design, HVAC design and/or plumbing design experience (preferred).
Mechanical Designer Drafter
Basic Responsibilities:
- Executes basic- and detail engineering drawings from assemblies through detail parts, including sheet metal parts
- Creates and revises drawings for plants and equipment
- Creates and revises technical information sheets
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or Technical School in Mechanical Drafting
- 2 – 10 years of experience with industrial plant/equipment layout (grain, food processing, agricultural, etc.)
- Strong 3-dimensional cognitive ability and capability to read and create isometric and perspective drawings
- Excellent skills/knowledge of SolidWorks
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Good MS Office skills: Outlook, Word, Excel
Summary:
Candidates should have 5 years’ experience in designing and programming control systems for automated equipment. An associated degree in the field of employment is desired. They will also be required to take projects from concept to install.
Responsibilities:
*Willing to travel an average of 25%, mostly domestic and possible future international.
*Design and programmed the equipment to Erdman and customer build specifications using standard procedures.
*Safety circuit design and programming via safety PLC
*Risk assessment implementing associated safety devices
*UL 508 certified design
Requirements:
*Experienced with PLC, HMI, Robot, AutoCAD, Motion Control, Pneumatics, and Hydraulics.

Duties include but are not limited to:
*Specify components, document control systems for various types of automated equipment.
*Electrical/Pneumatic design, machine PLC programming, machine debug and certification for customer run-off.
*Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of equipment.
