Cable and Harness Assembler

Reports to Production Manager

Assemble cables and harnesses end-to-end to meet specifications using standard engineering/customer design documentation, procedures, and assembly drawings (prints).

Responsibilities

•    Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures to build customer products from drawings, schematics, or photos.

•    Make precision measurements to ensure proper fit of components.

•    Check output and perform tests to ensure the highest quality.

•    Maintain equipment in good condition.

•    Report on issues, malfunctions, or defective parts.

•    Maintain company quality expectations.

•    Keep records of production quantities and time.

•    Maintain company labor expectations and efficiencies (Assembly build-times).

•    Maintain a clean organized workspace and facility.

•    Provide and/or maintain any reports required.

•    Any other task requested from management.

Requirements

•    Two or more years proven experience as cable assembler.

•    Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, drawings etc.

•    Ability to use hand tools comfortably and properly (e.g. micrometer, hand crimper, solder, stripper, etc.)

•    Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition.

•    Good understanding of quality control principles.

•    Able to lift-up to 50 lbs.

•    Good and respectful communication skills (verbal and written).

•    Available to work overtime from time to time with proper notice.

SUMMARY: Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of production workers. Manages the processes for the shift to ensure that production goals are met. Provides training and direction to employees. Ensures efficient and productive use of all equipment and maintains a safe working environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 ·         Lead and train employees, answer questions, provide coaching and discipline as needed

·         Provide clear expectations to all employees

·         Perform random inspections to ensure quality of parts produced

·         Ensure employees are on-time and at equipment when expected

·         Monitor and evaluate rates for obtainability and correct processes or rates as necessary

·         Pursue optimization of earned hours

·         Monitor work area and enforce safety regulations

·         Develop new ideas and processes to save time, material, and money

·         Work with management to resolve employee problems, complaints, or grievances

·         Accountable for shift performance in quality, earned hours, and meeting production schedule

·         E-mail daily results to President, Production Manager, and Production Planner

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

 ·         Work with engineering to ensure good fixtures and develop continuous process improvement

·         Work with maintenance to ensure equipment is consistently maintained and running efficiently

·         Work with human resources to maintain adequate staffing

·         Ensure compliance with 5S program

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Five (5) years of manufacturing experience working with a variety of tubing and bending equipment

·         Leadership skills and experience

·         Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions

·         Basic experience with Microsoft Computer Programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel

·         Excellent communication abilities

·         Organizational skills

Electrical Designer/Drafter / Instrumentation Technician

Basic Function:

Will coordinate with and assist Controls Engineers with system and component drawings. This will include planning, creating, revising and checking of complete Electrical drawing sets for projects with minimal supervision utilizing good CAD standards.

Responsibilities:

1.     Prepare electrical wiring diagrams, instrument loop wiring diagrams, electrical equipment location diagrams, process instrumentation diagrams, panel construction that will meet the Customer’s needs and be at or under the project budget

2.      85% electrical design using AutoCAD Electrical, 15% testing / technician troubleshooting

3.     Revise drawings based on change orders or customer requests.

4.     Must closely coordinate with Project Managers/Engineers on project details to ensure accurate and timely work.

5.     Must be able to make oral and graphic presentations of project work at meetings, or to customers on demand as needed.

6.     Keep the AutoCAD Electrical library up to date.

7.     Must keep accurate and timely time logs of project and non-project activities.

8.     Review electrical documentation provided by the electrical and mechanical equipment vendors for compliance with the                 contract requirements and specifications. Provide clarity to others.

9.     Inspect the fabrication of electrical systems, FAT certify. If necessary inspect the installation, modification, testing and full          operation of system.

10.  Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and              after construction.

11.  Assist with quoting potential projects by providing P&ID for the controls required.

12.  Review Customer specs (solenoids, electrical specs) prior to creating a system for a project.

13.  Request wiring tag list from customer so proper labeling can occur on equipment and project documents.

14.  Identify opportunities for process improvement and constructively make suggestions for that improvement.

15.  Value your personal development and remain on the forefront of emerging technology in fields relating to this position.

Education, Prior Work Experience, Specialized Skill or Knowledge:

  • AS or BS Degree in Electrical Drafting, Mechatronics/Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related degree
  • 2-20 yrs. electrical engineering or electrical design experience related to the design of process equipment (food/bev, oilseed, chemical, power/energy, etc.)
  • 2 yrs. Control Panel Design experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills as well as ability to work in high pressure environment
  • Auto CAD Electrical 2017 (or newer) proficient: Required
  • Testing and startup of control panels and related instrumentation
Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
  •  Must be able to Travel 10% of the time

We are seeking an experienced Switchgear, Switchboard, Industrial Control Panel quotations expert. Ideal candidate will have industry experience in the power distribution field with working knowledge and an understanding of the core business units that make up companies electrical products division.

This is a full-time position. Typical working hours will be Monday – Friday with hours ranging from 7:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Overtime will be available and/or mandatory at management’s discretion.

Specific Duties Include:

·         Provide pricing and lead time on standard catalog type products.

·         Provide pricing and lead time estimates on custom applications based on inquires and publicly available bid projects.

·         Utilizes industry knowledge and expertise in making judgements regarding specific product or project requirements.

·         Proactively works with sales, engineering, and production teams to meet customer needs and resolve issues.

·         Provide excellent customer service with timely follow-ups and response to inquiries.

·         Actively participates in coordinating, analyzing and acting upon information and feedback of customer needs or requests.

·         Coordinates with customer service representatives to enter sales orders in ERP system, delivering all applicable sales                     documents and specifications.

·         Participates in sales activities and industry events to promote the growl of Company business.

·         Verifies shipping information and dates, prior to shipment (contact, address special requirements).

Skills and Qualifications:

·         Minimum 4-5 years’ experience.

·         Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution Equipment required.

·         Experience with an ERP system.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

·         Ability to pass background and drug test prior to employment.

·         Ability to work in a team environment to accomplish daily tasks.

·         Superior problem solving, project management and analytical skills.

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently making sound design decisions for a week at a time.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

·         This position requires the ability to sit, and bend or stand for extended periods of time.

·         This position requires some travel, primarily local.

PURCHASING AGENT         Reports to:  Senior Purchasing Agent                                                                     Vice-President

 Full-Time: Monday – Friday Day Shift: normal business hours are 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Hours may include hours outside of normal business hours.

 PURPOSE:  Purchasing, Shipping, Inventory Control

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Negotiates and purchases quality materials, products and services in a timely manner at the lowest prices to support the needs of the organization.
  • Purchase materials to meet job specifications, AISC standards and as specified on drawings and bills of material.
  • Issue purchase orders for all directly purchased items and outside services.
  • Match vendor’s packing list against our Purchase Order for accuracy. Advise Controller of discrepancies.
  • Maintains a qualified supplier base.
  • Provides accurate pricing information on a timely basis to support the quoting process and the need of operations.
  • Compare purchasing costs to estimates and report findings to DAKA’s V.P. every 2 weeks.
  • Coordinate Metals Division product delivery to jobsites with proper customer personnel for timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with Marine Dealers for timely delivery of their orders.
  • Decide appropriate method of product delivery e.g. DAKA truck, common carrier etc.
  • Schedule Truck Drivers and plan truck loading for most efficient delivery to various locations.
  • Keeps current with new materials.
  • Track all mill certs and file as appropriate.
  • Complies with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicates and provides timely information to keep appropriate personnel informed.
  • Effectively resolves supplier issues.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining functional purchasing information.
  • Actively participates in meetings and on project teams to facilitate the project and the exchange of information.
  • Negotiates and implements supplier contracts of a more complex nature.
  • Builds a maintains relationships with suppliers.
  • Orders raw material to support the fabrication shop.

·        Maintains up to date inventory using ERP system

·        Expedites purchase orders as needed.

·        Keep MSDS/SDS binder up to date and accessible for all personnel. Replace all MSDS sheets with SDS sheets as they become available.

·        Obtain air quality, storm water discharge, shipping and other permits as required.

  • Operates with minimal supervision.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities apparent or assigned.

  • Demonstrated project leadership skills.
